What is SST?

Stoops Specialty Trucks has partnered with Bentz Transport Products (Bentz) in Fort Wayne, Indiana to design and manufacture an exclusive line of fully integrated custom sleepers for the Freightliner Columbia, Century S/T, and Coronado models. According to SST Sales Manager, Jeff Jones, this program was developed in response to a market demand for larger, fully integrated, upscale sleepers on Class 8 tractors and straight trucks.

Stoops Specialty Trucks Unveils New Climate Control Straight Truck for Expedited Freight Business

Stoops Specialty Trucks (SST) in Fort Wayne Indiana recently unveiled its new climate control straight truck for the expedited freight industry. Based on its successful line of SST Conversions on the Freightliner Columbia, the new SST100IS1RN is designed specifically for temperature validated reefer applications on the new Freightliner Cascadia CA113. The custom integrated sleeper roof is notched to accommodate both Carrier and Thermo King refrigeration units to be installed above the sleeper for highly specialized climate control applications. This type of overhead mounted reefer unit avoids maintenance problems and excessive repair costs that are associated with the under mount reefer units that are common in this type of truck. logo-certified-smartway-200Fort Wayne, Indiana – May 18, 2009 – Stoops Specialty Trucks (SST) from Stoops Freightliner, Sterling, and Western Star announced today that it has been awarded “Smart Way” certification status on its new Freightliner Cascadia Custom Sleeper Tractors that debuted at the Mid America Trucking Show in March of 2009. These are the only custom sleeper conversion units to achieve this honor. “We started with a state-of-the-art aerodynamic day cab tractor and then installed our custom fully integrated sleeper conversion,” said Jeff Jones, SST Sales Manager.
